Educational Family Fun in Niagara Falls

There are so many exciting entertainment destinations to experience in Niagara Falls from our 3-acre indoor waterpark to video game arcades, haunted houses, a giant ferris wheel, and iconic boat ride. But there are also a number of awesome destinations that mix fun with a little learning, making for great summer activities for people of all ages. Here are some of the top educational experiences to check out this summer in Niagara.

Wild Ontario Exhibit

From now until July 11th you can visit the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls for their Wild Ontario exhibit which showcases the fascinating biodiversity of our province and features live animal exhibits and informative panel displays. Stop by to learn about common and at-risk animals in our communities and see a barn owl, porcupine, skunk, spotted turtle, garter snake, and more.

Solar Beads & Museum Insiders

On June 22nd you can stop by the Niagara Falls History Museum on Lundy’s Lane for their Solar Beads family activity, where you can create cool bracelets and learn about the sun’s UV rays. And if you’re unable to make it to the solar bead activity then visit the museum on July 13th for their Museum Insiders event, which engages visitors in short stories based on artefacts within the museum’s collection.

Napoleonic Battle Reenactment

Old Fort Erie will be hosting an exciting Napoleonic Battle Reenactment during the June 24th and 25th weekend, featuring war reenactors from Canada, Europe, and the USA. In addition to battle reenactments, you can stop by to see military encampments, demonstrations, dances, and more. The battles are free to watch, so get ready to step back in time and connect with some fascinating history.

Canada 150 Parade & Heritage Displays

This July 1st marks the 150th anniversary of Confederation in Canada and there are a number of exciting events that you can experience throughout the city all summer. From June 30th to July 2nd you can visit the Ridgeway Legion Branch 230 to experience events like living history displays, reenactors, a vintage military convoy, and live entertainment. You can also embark on a walking tour of the Ridgeway Battlefield National Historic Site and catch the exciting Fort Erie Canada Day Parade on July 1st.
